Hanson’s Point

Hanson’s Point is a relatively secret classic hike. It’s an unofficial 5.1-mile out-and-back ridgeline trail that offers a spectacular view at the turnaround spot. This view looks out over the Chimney Top Creek watershed and provides a view north to northeast back to Chimney Top, Half Moon Arch, and Buzzard’s Roost.

The start of the trail can be muddy in spots most of the year. Because of that, I recommend wearing appropriate shoes and trying to stay on the trail, even though it might require some wet feet. The issue here is this is an unofficial tail that isn’t maintained by and wasn’t thoughtfully built by the park service. Please stay on the trail even if it means wet feet. This will keep the erosion to a minimum.

Another nice aspect of this trail is you can usually enjoy it on busier weekends when other more popular trails (and trailhead parking areas) are full.

Here’s an AllTrails link for more detailed information about the hike.
