We expected bikers and some hikers but were rewarded when we discovered this couple got engaged at Cocktail Point overlooking the South Fork River. ❤️❤️ He had a phone camera hidden at the base of the tree bf popping the big question.

I couldn’t join the fall ride because of my broken hand, so I chased @nesdnumaj and @merg240 around the upper loop trail with my @djiglobal drone.

The lighting was horrible because we got such a late start, but I was able to piece this together and thought I’d share it.

I did a quick power-hike up Mt. Sterling in the Smokys with my drone. It’s a cool spot and worth the climb. When I first arrived and climbed the fire tower, the entire mountain was in the clouds, but when I launched the drone, the clouds cleared for the scenic footage. It seems the time I was here before I was also in the clouds.

When editing footsge, two clips combined perfectly ti make the tower appear to disappear. I didn't plan it and it worked out perfectly. Don't ask me how. Dumb creative luck sometimes happens in post.

Why did I wait this long to get a portable mill?!?!

This new tool is badass and will allow me to save and use blow-down timber, like this 40’ red oak I dragged out of the woods. I haven’t sawn that log yet, but it’s on deck.

Our first project was to build a 100’ x 6’ fence, which only cost $200 for the 4x4 treated posts and concrete to set the posts. This privacy fence will block the farmhouse from our mountain bike parking lot.

Chet has been a good friend since I bought our farm in the Red, and he and the other locals I got to know over the past 15 years are as special to me as the scenery.

I was showing him my new signature addition, moonwood @larriveeguitars, and he immediately broken into song. I raced to my truck and returned with my digital recorder just in time to capture the second verse of this song.

When I asked him the name of this song, he chuckled and said, “Awe, heck, I don’t know. I guess ‘The Powder, the Perfume, and the Lead’”, which happened to be the ending of that verse.

After settling in from a long day's work, I looked up at Cocktail Point and a bright light was shining through the trees. I had no idea what it was. It looked at first like some UFO landed in the forest on the rige, then common sense kicked in, helping me realize it was the full moon rising beyond the mountain behind us.

I didn't know about the 360-degree sunset going into it, but we were fortunate to be on high ground and witnessed it. JD and I packed in the adventures, laughs, and stories over two days, including my first-ever time flying a stunt kite in the dead of night.

Not every day of land ownership is a walk along a sunset ridge. I had a broken water line running out to one of the cabins. I was lucky to find the leak in the 500' line on my third exploratory dig. What a mess. It was not my best day, but I'm glad to have it fixed.
