Belaying, when done correctly and with caution, is an excellent way to explore the backcountry of the Red River Gorge. Most sandstone cliffs, arches, and rock caves are hidden to most, but thanks to climbing and belaying, a few experienced and brave individuals can get an up-close view of what would otherwise be unreachable.
