It’s usually hard to motivate the energy for one more adventure on an already long day, but the effort to hike out to Courthouse Rock to take in the sunset is worth it. The best time to go is after a late afternoon storm passes through and clears out. A few other options for sunset hikes are Tarr Ridge or Chimney Top Trail. Tarr Ridge Trail is a shorter drive, but a longer hike. Chimney Top offers the quickest and easiest walk, but you’ll have a long drive to get to the trailhead.

Recommendations: Pack in a headlamp and a small backpack with wine, cheese, and crackers.
